Wendy H. Bird is a business professor and co-coordinator for the Center for Community Engagement and Service Learning at Red Rocks Community College, located in Lakewood, Colorado. Ms. Bird earned her BA in 1989 from Saginaw Valley State University in Saginaw, Michigan and her JD in 1993 from Wayne State University Law School in Detroit, Michigan. After practicing law for nearly 10 years in Colorado, she followed her passion and transitioned to full-time teaching at Red Rocks Community College. Ms. Bird started teaching in 1997 and earned a full-time faculty position in 2004, specializing in business law and real estate. She has since added other interest areas such as personal finance, international business, negotiation/conflict resolution and nonprofit business. A fierce advocate for community college students and student success, she works to support and expand high impact practices and exceptional opportunities for students at RRCC. In recognition of her excellence in teaching, she received the Leprino Family Foundation Teaching Chair Award for 2013-2015 and was named the RRCC Faculty of the Year for 2017-2018. Ms. Bird currently resides in Westminster, Colorado with her husband, two teenagers (who she hopes will use their powers for good someday), two dogs and a cat, although they trade the Rockies for the Appalachians in the summers where they enjoy the woods and lakes of western North Carolina.
