GLIDE Foundation/Glide Memorial Church
Senior Director of Mission and Spirituality
San Francisco Bay Area
I'm a native Californian who lived half of my life in other places. Some of the things I've been involved with: directing the Multicultural Resource Center at Reed College, helping found the Chinese UNTraining (a group working on internalized oppression in progressive Chinese communities), directing the Center for Social Justice at GLIDE Foundation, and co-chairing the University Council on Community Engagement at the University of San Francisco with the awesome David Donahue and Mary Wardell. I also sit on the board of a small non-profit called Phages for Global Health, which is combating the rise of drug-resistant bacteria in Africa and Asia.
What I'm interested in: people who want to do deep work with students who are pursuing social justice, especially work in the areas of social conditioning and unconscious bias, internalized racism or oppression, and leadership from within. I'm also interested in the intersection of spirituality and justice, promoting healthy (self-aware) non-profit cultures, and the challenges of doing cross-cultural work between communities of color.
